Abstract
GORDILLO MANSSUR, Fabián; COS FARIAS, Valeria and ROMERO BLACIO, Fernanda. Residues of rice cultivation as mulching for the cultivation of pumpkin (cucurbita moschata l). Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.1, pp. 105-110. Epub Mar 01, 2018. ISSN 2218-3620.
Agricultural production has negative effects on the environment, especially on the soil. For the above, we evaluated the incorporation of vegetable cover from the panca of rice in the agronomic development of the crop of the shoe. The treatments were: soil without mulching and with mulching; in all cases, fertilization was the same. The evaluations were performed at 35, 65 and 95 days after transplantation. The yield was determined from plant length (main guide), number of flowers, number of fruits, weight of fruit, and size of fruits. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance using Statgraphics Centurion XVII.II statistical package with a multiple comparison of means (LSD Fisher, α = 0.05). Mulching to the soil with rice paddy is a viable production alternative for the cultivation of calabaza; since the plants cultivated in the soil with mulching with low fertilization showed high values in the agronomic variables analyzed, in addition they contribute to preserve the fertility of the soil and to improve the physical conditions of the same, as well as natural control of weeds.
