Abstract

AGUIRRE GONZALEZ, Diego; BENITEZ ENRIQUEZ, Jaime  and  MOTTA MARIN, Carlos Nazareth. Single frequency network for a UHF television channel. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.1, pp. 117-124.  Epub Mar 04, 2018. ISSN 2218-3620.

Receiving a broadcast television signal in different zone of Guayaquil´s city, tends to be of very poor quality or simply can not be perceived by the customers, these sectors are technically called as" shadow zones ". Thanks to Digital Terrestrial Television´s introduction, and the adoption in 2010 by the Ecuadorian government, of the Brazilian - Japanese ISDB -Tb standard, this Project presents a solution based on field measurements that will develop a scheme Single Frequency network, which ensures high quality transmission through the urban area of Guayaquil´s city. In order to develop the respective network design, field measurements were performed on 24 points strategically determined in Guayaquil, using for that purpose, a spectrum analyzer and Receiver Loaded with the standard. These measurements will determine shadow areas and the most suitable technical parameters for the operation of the network. Based on the results of the different signal propagation´s scenarios, it can be generate a unique design and a virtual map detailing the behavior of the television signal, which at the same time will determine the optimal parameters necessary for the transmitters Digital Terrestrial Television´s operation in Guayaquil´s city.
