Abstract

CARRILLO KENNEDY, Jorge Enrique. Incidence of femicide in Ecuador and the province of Guayas. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.1, pp. 125-133.  Epub Mar 02, 2018. ISSN 2218-3620.

Femicide is an innovative figure that was incorporated into the Ecuadorian penal system less than ten years ago, but grew steadily in 2016, so the objective was to analyze the incidence of femicide in Ecuador and Guayas province. The descriptive, quantitative, bibliographical, field methodology was applied using a survey of 10 users, whose results were as follows: Ecuador was the country with the highest femicide growth in 2016, with 162%, increasing its participation in Latin America from 3 % (2015) to 8% (2016), where Brasil and El Salvador participated with two thirds of the cases of femicide in the Latin American region. The Litoral region had the highest incidence of femicide in Ecuador, with more than half of cases in 2016, Guayas occupying the first place in the provincial ranking of these crimes, with a third at the national level and two thirds at the Ecuadorian coast; the causes of these crimes were sentimental, their current and previous cohabitants participated, less than 15% of cases resolved, evidencing limited celerity associated with the impunity of the crime.

Keywords : Incidence; femicide; crime.
