Abstract

Today, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are challenged by large corporations and globalization, which has created a risk in their sustainability; the continuous decrease of its productivity and profitability due to the constant fall of its operational income and that have brought as a consequence shortages of liquidity and solvency have caused SMEs to enter a complex state which they have not been able to face; Therefore, it is necessary to establish work teams with performance levels that are superior to current challenges and challenges. Taylorist and Fayolist theories about administration do not manage to give a total solution to the socio-economic chaos that has occurred since the 21st century. This article explores and diagnoses models of authors interested in the study of the nonlinear dynamics applied in the organization, with the aim of identifying the precise factors that allow SMEs to form high performance teams and thus be able to challenge the chaos and complexity originated by the appearances of black swans in the global market. The research was executed within an epistemology coming from the science of complexity; the applied study was of descriptive correlational type where primary and secondary sources were used. For the fulfillment of the objectives proposed in this investigation, surveys were conducted to the subordinates and subordinates of the SMEs, in addition to the documentary review provided by the Superintendence of Companies, Securities and Insurance in its web portal. After analyzing the information, a sample of 170 SMEs from the industrial sector was found in the City of Guayaquil.
