Abstract
RAMON PINEDA, Miguel Ángel and GUAHICHULLCA ORDONEZ, Laura Alexandra. The negative influence of migration in the educational process of the city of Machala. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.3, pp. 217-225. Epub June 02, 2018. ISSN 2218-3620.
Migration as a social phenomenon given its global scope also represents a challenge for the educational system of the city of Machala. The negative consequences for the educational processes are still insufficiently investigated and disclosed, reason that motivated this descriptive study. The assumed methodological strategy was systematized through quantum-quantitative methods and techniques, such as scientific observation, hermeneutics, documentary analysis and statistics. The consultation of the registries and documents of the secretaries of 20 randomly selected schools allowed concluding that the students affected by the migration only reach a 39.8% of school achievement and represent 73% of the schoolchildren who leave the classrooms. To help to reverse this situation, school institutions must promote a supportive, multicultural school environment and attention to the specific educational needs of this type of student, based on the principles of integration, equality and interculturality.
