As many institutions have as a standard, at the end of their annual exercise, perform an accounting audit to know their situation and economic management, the management of any institution should also be interested in the added value of an audit on the reality and management of their internal communication. The internal communication audit is a tool for listening and verifying the way in which internal communication is being managed, indispensable for establishing improvements and even more, if the educational institution is committed to a model of institutional excellence. This article illustrates the importance of auditing internal communication in higher education institutions.
