The effects of climate change are increasingly notable in island states, nations such as Cuba outline strategic actions for adaptation and mitigation; however, the Cuban society is not yet sufficiently prepared to assume the effects of hazards, vulnerabilities and risks. From the University of Matanzas in its social role contributes to minimize this problem. This paper is based on and proposes a conception of education in climatic risks, defines the levels of social involvement in function of the action to reduce risks, the dimensions for its evaluation, as well as some results achieved in its introduction from social groups, which allow the improvement of the actors involved and a greater preparation for the planning of the territorial management and decision making in function of the strengthening of the symbiosis with the environmental context of Matanzas.
