Abstract

The place that tourism is granted in the productive matrix of Ecuador, is a crucial issue to understand the dynamics of the changes that this sector has in the economic and social development of the country. However, to understand this process it is necessary to reveal the factors that determine this relationship and from it present the challenges that are assumed to make the tourism activity a sustainable sector before the socio-political changes that mark the present and immediate future of the nation. In this work, the frameworks required in the development policy of this sector and the implications that are configured for the present and future of Ecuadorian tourism are stated, assuming that the continuity of the projects raised up to 2020, can be viable as long as it is taken Considering that tourism in the 21st century, it will have to overcome traditional codes and strengthen the adaptation to new economic and social challenges.
