Abstract

Sustainability is a key factor for ecological tourism ventures; it benefits the entrepreneur and its environment. Santay island is recognized as a protected area. Studies related to the subject are limited determine the factors that favor sustainability. The purpose of the study was to propose a qualitative methodology that was applied with a transversal descriptive approach, the technique was the focus group. It was based on theoretical bases and field research; It was found that there is an association among them. They are regulated, controlled and trained by the Ministry of the Environment and they are self-sustaining with the enterprises they generate and have strategic alliances with the universities.
