Abstract
ZAMBRANO, Carlos Edison; ANDRADE ARIAS, Mariela Susana and CARRENO RODRIGUEZ, Washington Villamil. Factors that affect the productivity of rice growing in los Rios Province. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.5, pp. 270-277. Epub Dec 02, 2019. ISSN 2218-3620.
The rice (Oryza sativa L.) in Ecuador occupies the second place in the production of food grains behind corn, covers domestic demand and places the country as a potential exporter. The objective of the research was to analyze the factors that affect the productivity of the rice crop. The data was obtained through surveys of 147 farmers in five cantons of the province of Los Ríos, which represents a confidence coefficient of 95%. The productivity factors and the regression model were processed with the SPSS 23 program. The results show an average rice yield of 4.25 t / ha, in which five cantons stand out for their planted area. Most families plant the SFL11 and INIAP14 varieties on their property, invest an average of $ 1031 and the Babahoyo canton is the one with the highest productivity. The average price per take of rice is $ 28 and the profitability level of the crop is low. The multiple linear regression model on rice yield accounts for 60% of rice production and the cost variable with a 95% confidence level is highly significant.
