ABREUS MORA, Jorge Luis et al. The behavior of the physical capacity balance in elderly people, Cienfuegos municipality. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.3, pp. 44-53. Epub June 02, 2020. ISSN 2218-3620.
The functional evaluations of older adults have established standards that allow knowing their physical state. In the performance of professionals from the Cienfuegos municipality, there are few tools to assess changes in balance ability. From this problem, this descriptive study is carried out with the aim of evaluating the behavior of physical balance in older adults. It is carried out through measurement, using the tests: Fullerton Advanced Balance Scale, Multidirectional Stretch Test, Clinical Test of Modified Balance and Sensory Interaction and Test of walking 15 meters at the preferred and maximum speed, as a statistical procedure. A frequency study was performed. The most important findings focused on: illness, changes in sensory systems, misuse of somatosensory, vestibular, and visual-vestibular inputs, misuse of orthostatic strategies, and the dimensions of the area of stability. It was concluded that the balance physical capacity manifested deterioration of the orthostatic strategies mainly in the sensory and motor systems.
