Abstract
QUINDE ROSALES, Víctor; BUCARAM LEVERONE, Rina; SALDANA VARGAS, Michelle and ORDENANA PROANO, Adriana. Relationship between growth and economic development: Ecuador case. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.3, pp. 60-66. Epub June 02, 2020. ISSN 2218-3620.
This document is an inductive reasoning research that evaluates the causality relationship between the GDP per capita and the Human Development Index of Ecuador, in a period of analysis from 1990 to 2018. Under an empirical-analytical paradigm, it was used the Augmented Dickey-Fuller unit root test - DFA, an autoregressive vector model - VAR and it was generated the Granger causality and the Johansen cointegration test. The results demonstrate the non-stationarity of the variables under study, a two-variable VAR model was obtained with an optimal number of lags of six - VAR6 (2) to which the causality test was performed demonstrating a unidirectionality by the Index of Human Development towards Per-capita GDP. This result was corroborated by establishing that the variables move together over time and the differences between them are stable, there is more than one vector or cointegration relationship.
