Abstract

This paper has as an objective to fundament in a theoretic way the treatment of stress in the elderly in order to improve its quality of life. The authors of this work consider that the increment of people with 60 years of age or more constitutes a proof that the Cuban State offers an attention specialized to appear biopsychosocial behaviors - spiritual and cultural characteristic of the aging and it is here where the stress takes other characteristics that distinguish it in its personological development. The beginning of this stage of the life in fact coincides with the established one for the labor ending, the one that not all the people assimilate what depends in bigger measure of the state of health that you arrives to the same one, equally derived of the family environment and of the economic situation that is, being linked to the social factor. Retirement brings a change of life, and it frequently becomes a problem that destabilizes in some moment to the fellow, causing him in the best in the cases a vital crisis because of the stress. Assisting to this problem proposals has been made to achieve the improvement of certain a variety mechanisms to guarantee an appropriate quality of life in the old people.
