Abstract

GARCIA BATISTA, Rigoberto Miguel et al. Agro-productive behavior of sweet sorgo hybrids introduced in the Republic of Ecuador. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.3, pp. 240-252.  Epub June 02, 2020. ISSN 2218-3620.

The studies are being carried out by the Cuban-Ecuadorian team that developed the PIDAASSE Project from February 2009 in the Republic of Ecuador. The objective of this work is to demonstrate the agro-productive potential of a group of sweet sorghum hybrids introduced in the provinces of Guayas and Santa Elena, Ecuador. The results of two field experiments carried out with sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L) Moench) and harvested as sugarcane are shown, in two different scenarios, located in the Experimental Farm "Playas", located in the province of Guayas and in the Experimental Farm "El Azúcar", located in the province of Santa Elena. The sowing was carried out in winter time, after germination test of the cultivars. Chemical analyzes were performed in the laboratory of Compañía BANAENERGY S.A. The results show how the behavior of the different variables evaluated were always the best in the town of "Playas", which was characterized by presenting the best type of soil, the Tx "2" and BA "A" treatments were those that comprehensively manifested the best behavior in the variables studied and stood out in the ethanol productions Tx "4", IAN and Tx "2", with values above the amounts contributed by the cultivation of sugar cane per ha / year.

Keywords : Agronomic behavior; sweet sorghum hybrids; ethanol production.
