Abstract

ESPINOZA FREIRE, Eudaldo Enrique  and  RAMON PINEDA, Miguel Ángel. Competences of the social worker graduated from universidad técnica de Machala. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.5, pp. 314-321.  Epub Oct 02, 2020. ISSN 2218-3620.

With the objective of characterizing the labor reality and the skills acquired by the social workers graduated from the Technical University of Machala (UTMach); A descriptive, quantitative and qualitative cross-sectional study was carried out based on surveys and curricular analysis. The results show that there is a majority participation of women and of these a percentage is not dedicated to professional practice, but to the home. Social workers who do practice the profession are employed in the public sector linked to social programs, education and health. Although there seems to be a good training of competences during the degree course, the incongruity of the graduates who live deserves a multi-institutional review that involves the academy (relevance of the degree course and curriculum review), government (laws and regulations) and productive sectors (employers and law enforcement). That they help improve the reality of social workers in today's changing society.

Keywords : Professional skills; social work; training; employment situation.
