This article is the product of a bibliographic review on discrimination against the elderly, assessments that do not conform to reality and that subject this age group to social exclusion, known today as ageism. It is a stereotype loaded with prejudice and discrimination that has spread throughout the world, undermining the foundations of the dignity of being, materializing in derogatory phrases and attitudes. The university as a space for humanistic and professional training of citizens is the institution called upon to take the first steps to curb these exclusionary positions and for this it must work in tandem with state policies and its projects to link with society.
