Abstract

ALARCON BARRERO, Roger; SALVADOR HERNANDEZ, Yudith  and  PEREZ PRAVIA, Milagros. Key dimensions of effective public management in local governments. Application in a case study. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.6, pp. 411-420.  Epub Dec 02, 2020. ISSN 2218-3620.

The level of effectiveness achieved by local governments is distinguished by key dimensions that characterize management and serve as the basis for performance evaluation. The purpose of the article is to elaborate a procedure for the definition and evaluation of the dimensions based on characteristics that guarantee effective public management in local governments; supported by indicators that provide the information to assess their condition. The method of content analysis and analytical-synthetic analysis was used to identify the criteria of the authors consulted, as well as mathematical statistical methods for formulating the indicators. The implementation is carried out in the government of the Mayarí municipality, in the Holguín province, a town in eastern Cuba. As results, key dimensions are established that characterize the degree of effectiveness of government action with the support of statistical techniques.
