Abstract

This study explains the damages brought about by Covid-19 pandemic in Peru through a descriptive research type. At the same time, a reflective analysis was developed on the role of the industrial engineer in the deconfinement and post-pandemic economic reactivation stage. This analysis focused on highlighting the opportunities and challenges for the industrial engineer in the fields of safety and occupational health, job design, environmental management, and the application of information technologies. In this sense, it was concluded that the industrial engineer has the necessary skills and competencies to become an actuator in the economic recovery of all types of companies, to supervise compliance with health protocols, redesign jobs with high risk of contagion, minimize the environmental impact of industries that resume operations and promote the digital transformation that facilitates telework.
