Abstract

RODRIGUEZ PEREZ, Berlan. Comparative evaluation of the ample introduction of electric vehicles in Peru. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.1, pp. 159-166.  Epub Feb 02, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.

Electric urban transport has become a trend for sustainability. Many researchers and people in general already talk about the countless environmental benefits of electric vehicles. However, it is our responsibility to know in which scenarios we have environmental benefits and which technologies have a positive influence on the environment. This paper presents a comparative Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles (ICV) fueled with petrol and Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG). The LCA is evaluated taking into account the variables of electricity and diesel fuel production in Peru. This document shows a "well to wheel" LCA, and "cradle to gate" analysis for electric, hybrid and conventional vehicles. The ReCiPe methodology was used for it has midpoint and endpoint indicators to evaluate environmental impact. The planning of the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Peru has been used to establish different evaluation scenarios and perform the calculations of sensitivity analysis of the results. In addition, an evaluation was made of the cost of acquisition and use of vehicles in the current situation and in prospective scenarios. This way calculation was made of the break-even points in terms of the environment and the economy.

Keywords : Electric vehicles; life cycle assessment; comparative scenarios.
