Abstract
MEZA PEREZ, Edy Javier; MENDEZ GARCES, Erik Fernando and MEZA PEREZ, Dario Alejandro. Electronic voting in Ecuador; perspectives from growing technological advances. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.3, pp. 525-535. Epub June 02, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.
Currently, technology is playing a key role in the development of electoral processes, while many investigations point out that the electronic voting system offers advantages over the traditional voting system, others express concern about the potential risk of fraud on a large scale. Despite the variety of electronic voting systems, these are still in constant evolution, given this reality, that a documentary-descriptive research was developed aimed to analyze this situation in Ecuador, taking as reference the Province of Santo Domingo that in 2014 was part of the pilot process of electronic voting, using Venezuelan technology; surveys were applied to voters and technicians who participated in these elections and the interview to the authority of the National Electoral Council who participated in this experience, in order to have criteria for comparison with the processes that have been developed to date. In this sense, we emphasize the need to continue improving these processes taking into account all the possibilities offered by technology to make them reliable and transparent.
