Abstract
GONZALEZ MANSO, Blas Jorge and ROMERO RODRIGUEZ, Julio. Tissue engineering in maxillofacial surgery. Development in our social context. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.4, pp. 41-48. Epub Aug 02, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.
Diseases of the oral cavity constitute a public health problem for many countries of the world, especially for those underdeveloped or developing. Despite the great technological development, modern dental centers do not provide solutions to the main oral health problems of the contemporary world, and maxillofacial surgery does not escape this dilemma. This is fundamentally oriented in two directions: towards the production of infinitely varied and complex instruments, materials and techniques, for which the assistance has been based on the high demand for equipment as specialized as it is expensive; and towards the development of a rehabilitation industry as expensive as it is alien to social demands for the promotion and prevention of oral health. In this work we carry out an analysis of tissue engineering from the phenomenon of science and its technological development within the specialty of maxillofacial surgery, taking into account the conditions where they develop as well as their possible impact and socialization.
