Abstract

COMPTE RUIZ, Hiran Marcelo  and  ESTRADA JIMENEZ, Lidia Esther. The dimensions of sustainable development as part of the training of volleyball coaches. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.5, pp. 248-258.  Epub Oct 02, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.

Integrating the dimensions of sustainable development (the ecological, the economic and the political-social) to the process of technical-methodological training of Volleyball coaches represents a necessity for the training of future generations of athletes. To achieve this purpose, a methodology is implemented which is in line with both, the guidelines of the Athlete Training Program and the technological demands of this sport in Cuba. Accordingly, different methods, techniques and instruments were used, both theoretical and empirical, such as the analytical-synthetic and modeling. The theoretical and methodological foundations of the research are provided and the process of achieving the results is described with a predominantly qualitative methodology, following the Participatory-Action-Research approach. Four intervention phases are subsumed under this process and among its main results is the conceptualization of the dimensions of sustainable development applied to the context of sports. In conclusion, the methodology offers a new course of action to the technical-methodological training of Volleyball coaches, with new elements that incorporate the dimensions of sustainable development to the athletes’ sports training.
