Abstract

This paper touches upon some ideas about education research in the university, with a conceptual approach to these contents to respect to sustainable development. There is a revision of declarations, world and regional conferences related to the education`s role in sustainable development. The scientific sources on the theme are as well examined: university conceptions, its social role, substantive processes integration, scientific research, particularly the education research. The internal and external action lines are assumed, in relation to substantive processes and their presence for sustainable development. These analyses joint to the authors’ experience as higher education professors, have served like premises in the elaboration of indicators for the integration of the sustainable processes’ integration with the intention of analysing from theory, the possible contribution of education research to university sustainable development. It was necessary an algorithm to establish the steps for determining the indicators in the university substantive processes for the sustainable development, to be consequent with its insertion`s conditions, in attention to the formation process in Higher Education`s features and requirements.
