TAVERA LITS, Ruth Ysabel; HERNANDEZ POZO, Clara Elisa and ALONZO, Olga Mireya. Knowledge and skills of nursing students in postoperative patients. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.6, pp. 537-542. Epub Dec 10, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.
This research requires all the knowledge and skills that future nursing personnel must have specifically in the management of postsurgical patients in both pediatric and / or adult patients regardless of age, sex, ethnicity or nationality. The objective of specifying the procedures that nursing must fully comply with in postoperative patients was achieved. Bibliographic review of texts, scientific journals and previously carried out studies were used as methods. It was possible to verify through studies that part of the nursing staff still has low knowledge about the management of these patients, both in the operating room area and in the hospitalization area. More effort should be made to acquire theoretical knowledge and skills to offer better care to the post-operated patient and to know the protocols of the surgical service, the nursing staff is essential from the moment the patient begins his post-anesthetic recovery and surgery until discharge where your responsibility begins by complying with your medical orders, educating the patient and performing pertinent procedures.
