Abstract

MENDEZ CABALLERO, Yunet. The task-based approach: from language teaching to translator training. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.3, pp. 85-93.  Epub June 02, 2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

Translation didactics has undergone a process of transformation. While years ago, approaches that emphasized the role of the teacher as a transmitter of knowledge prevailed, there are now a variety of proposals for teaching translation, in which students play the most important role. One of these proposals is the task-based approach, which emerged in the teaching of foreign languages but has been very well received by teachers of translation. This is an approach whose characteristics represent benefits for translator training and which can be applied, especially at the initial levels. In this paper, reference is made, first, to the task-based approach in foreign language teaching and, subsequently, the characteristics of this approach in the teaching of translation will be discussed.

Keywords : Didactics; task-based approach; foreign language teaching; translator training.
