Abstract

The present article is about the problems related to the development of the environmental education in Primary Education and the integration of the sociocultural context, which is a relevant dimension to concrete the aspirations to instruct a competent individual, engaged with his environmental surrounding. The deepening in theoretic elements allowed specifying the characterization of the environmental education process at the elementary school and the integration of the sociocultural context in the formation of environmental attitudes. A historical study where the four fundamental stages transited for the process is suggested. It allows declaring tendencies in the development of the environmental education in Cuba.
