Abstract

ITURRALDE CARRERA, Luis Angel; ESPINOSA PALENQUE, Alfredo Rafael; CASTRO PERDOMO, Nelson Arsenio  and  JIMENEZ BORGES, Reinier. Methodology for energy balance of sugar mills supported in microsoftexcel. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.4, pp. 190-196.  Epub Aug 30, 2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

At present, rapid industrial growth and the demands of modern society, result in an increase in energy consumption. Today's trend is to bring the sugar industry to high levels of production and efficiency. Use a productive energy balance methodology, which, supported by a Microsoft Excel program, facilitates the operational control of the sugar industry. The energy balance was carried out with real data from the Central "Ciudad Caracas" in the province of Cienfuegos using a calculation methodology based on Microsoft Excel software, where the results are presented in a better structured way, specifying the particular conditions of the process, as well as, changes that allow a quick analysis of said results and with it, decision-making. As the main result, the analysis and comparison between the real work parameters is facilitated, with the normal parameters established according to the areas in operation, visualized through tables, graphs and colored markings in the different cells, at the same time that it facilitated the calculation of the economic contribution amounting to 109,021.57 USD for energy sales and savings due to the generation of own consumption of the production process. The use of Microsoft Excel software facilitates the energy analysis of the production process in the sugar industry, in real time and with it, decision-making, as well as the achievement of an increase in energy efficiency in said process, promoting an increase in the entity's income.
