Abstract

GARCIA ROBELO, Octaviano  and  GODINEZ MONTES DE OCA, Enrique. Influence of ICT in the teaching and learning processes of mathematics in children in a public school in Mexico. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.4, pp. 258-273.  Epub Aug 30, 2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

Until today in Mexico, the academic performance on mathematics at the basic level has been poor, where students must have a solid mathematical foundation for their transition to secondary school, as well as the knowledge for its application in daily life. The influence of ICT in the teaching-learning processes of the subject of mathematics in the sixth year of primary education is analyzed, with the participation of 53 students and two teachers, based on the theory of didactic situations of the French Brousseau, which comprises three dimensions: action situation, formulation situation and validation situation. With mixed methodology, a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews, analysis of plans and programs were applied. They all were contrasted explaining the influence of ICT on mathematics. A series of structural deficiencies and knowledge focused on the use of ICTs were found, which has not allowed them to take full advantage of them. Students, teachers and authorities showed interest in their use to optimize mathematical learning. Therefore it is suggested to provide support to teachers with general and specific courses on the use of ICT for teaching mathematics, since they are generators of their learning objects.
