Abstract
SUAREZ, Alejandro Elías; JIMENEZ BORGES, Reinier; CASTILLO ALVAREZ, Yoisdel and ITURRALDE CARRERA, Luis Angel. Recirculation system to improve efficiency in the calibration of coriolis-type mass flowmeters. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.4, pp. 285-290. Epub Aug 30, 2022. ISSN 2218-3620.
The study analyzes the impact of the improvements in the calibration of the Coriolis type mass flowmeters of the Cienfuegos Oil Refinery. The flowmeter laboratory currently does not recirculate the water, and upon completion of the test it pours directly into the storm drains. Using the existing facilities in the current installation, a system capable of recirculating the water was designed. Based on the designed model, the load losses were calculated as a function of the flow and the flow graph against the system load was drawn up. Knowing that the maximum test flow is 120 m3/h, it was decided to select the "Mega Pump CPK125-080-400". The water saving is so significant that, in one hour of work, after the project is implemented, 1 200 people could benefit from one day of this precious liquid. In addition, in two months the country would be saving 1 ton of oil and half a ton of purification products due to pumping. With an investment of 271 753,46 pesos, and through the current rate of 1,48 pesos per m3, the amount is reached with 183 617,20 m3 of water, for a flow of 120 m3/h it is 1,25 years to recover the investment.
