Abstract
GALLEGOS RUIZ CONEJO, Ada Lucia et al. Women's rights in Latin America in the face of trafficking and sexual slavery. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.4, pp. 654-664. Epub Aug 30, 2022. ISSN 2218-3620.
It consists of analyzing the human rights situation of women and their situation of defenselessness as citizens in the presence of a scourge that has systematically woven powerful networks that, in the context of a worrying impunity and indirect complicity of the States, subject thousands of women in the world to critical situations of sexual slavery, violating their most basic rights, especially their dignity as persons, objectifying them and using them as human merchandise, Putting their integrity, safety and life itself at risk, profiting and obtaining millionaire profits through this inhuman business, which claims victims on a massive scale and is increasing exponentially in the countries, taking advantage of the situation of poverty of the potential victims and of an almost absolute absence of protection mechanisms for the young women who are generally recruited by force or through deception or offers of work. Identifying the problem in its true dimension, identifying its causes, describing the scenarios where the scourge unfolds, as well as legally identifying the criminal conducts incurred by the members of these powerful criminal networks, in order to propose alternative solutions, with results at least in the medium term.
