Abstract

Knowledge management and innovation are core activities in institutions that complete the worthy cycle from research to the delivery of products for social consumption. The objective of this work is to diagnose knowledge management and innovation in the Biomaterials Center of the University of Havana. An instrument was applied in the form of a questionnaire with 145 items based on previous works, as well as the ISO 30401 and NC 1307 reference standards. As a result, it was identified the need to strengthen aspects related to: strategies for the achievement of the vision, generation and assimilation of knowledge, management of ideas, execution of projects by product, transfer of results, follow-up and measurement of the management of research, development and innovation activities and their results. Fundamentally, effective ways of financing research are required. The improvement in knowledge and innovation management will strengthen the process of transferring the results of innovation in biomaterials to the National Health System, contributing to the achievement of the organization's vision and the fulfillment of its strategic objectives.
