MEDINA-CHICAIZA, Patricio; GONZALEZ-HERNANDEZ, Walfredo  and  CHILIQUINGA-VEJAR, Lorena. Technologies in education: a science and society approach. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.6, pp. 639-648.  Epub Dec 30, 2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

Virtual education allows an interaction between teacher and student through technological tools, where the protagonist of the teaching-learning process is the student, the responsibility of developing the contents falls on the student and the teacher becomes a mediator or guide. Therefore, the objective of this work is to carry out a theoretical approach to technologies in education: science and society approach as it is a theoretical review study, a methodology similar to the PRISMA statement is used to obtain the outstanding contributions regarding the object study. It is concluded that the limitations of virtual education lie in economic resources, technological equipment within educational institutions and those of the students, as well as infrastructure and internet access. However, in times of a pandemic of biosecurity restrictions and social distancing, it is necessary for educational processes to incorporate and implement virtual education to minimize infections and risks to the health of students.
