Abstract

From the point of view of science, technology and society, there are problems with the quality of physiotherapy for the treatment of rotator cuff tendinopathy (TMR) are dynamic and degenerative pathologies that cause disability to patients who suffer from it with serious social problems. The aim of this research is to determine evidence-based intervention protocols for chronic TMR applied by physiotherapists (FT). The relevance of continuing academic and postgraduate training with the area of work in physiotherapy is identified. The study had a cross-sectional quantitative approach. A structured survey with evidence-based intervention elements was applied. 50 active physiotherapists participated. The results show that the intervention programs for chronic TMR based on high to moderate quality evidence applied by FT are 8% (rarely), 21% (sometimes), 48% (always). 65% use methods and techniques that have no scientific evidence and 83% interventions that have no effect on pain and/or functionality in patients with TMR. The study found that the majority of physiotherapists use intervention protocols for chronic TMR of low scientific quality and/or use techniques and methods that have not been studied in recent years. The deficiencies in the choice of evidence-based protocols may be deficient continuous/postgraduate training in the musculoskeletal area, low research in scientific information sources and the lack of relevance of the training with the musculoskeletal area.
