Abstract

In recent years, studies on organizational culture in higher education centers have proliferated due to the importance it has for management and academia as a success factor that affects the achievement of objectives and high performance. In this regard, universities and institutes of higher education develop and transmit knowledge, beliefs, values, and experiences through the teaching-learning process. Therefore, this work characterizes the dominant organizational culture in an outstanding Higher Technological Institute of the province of Tungurahua, Ecuador. The study has a quantitative, descriptive, and correlational design, non-experimental and cross-sectional. The questionnaire of values in competition of (Cameron & Quinn, 2021) is applied to the population of teachers of the institution and the information is processed in the statistical package SPSS 22. The results reveal that the current and desired dominant culture in the institute is market that is framed in the cultural typologies of national and foreign universities. Correlations are identified between the dimensions of organizational culture and the dimension of success criteria. Finally, the cultural model of the institute is composed of dominant characteristics, management style and cohesion.
