Abstract

Although the poultry sector in Ecuador has been distinguished by a great development, modernization and specialization in all the links of the production and commercialization process, it is necessary to standardize a strategic planning according to the needs of the market and the internal characteristics of the companies. This research takes a family business in the poultry sector as a case study to carry out a situational diagnosis and implement strategic planning tools that allow monitoring of management, according to the objectives of the organization, in an effort to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of each worker. The analysis unit was made up of 82 employees who work in administrative functions in the different departments and the data collection techniques included a semi-structured interview, survey, application of planning instruments and documentary review. A Balanced Scorecard (BSC) was implemented to monitor the objectives through management indicators, identifying the key drivers and blockers in the categories: strategic focus (57%), transfer to the BSC (64%), synchronization and deployment (62%) and culture of execution (64%); concluding in difficulties of direction and execution of the personnel to achieve the strategic objectives of the company.
