Teacher training must be in accordance with the demands of society, which requires competent professionals for a solvent professional performance. The purpose of this publication is to carry out a theoretical analysis of the models of continuous teacher training in basic education, through the systematic review of scientific articles, and to carry out a characterization of their current state in Peru; For this, a bibliographic review study was carried out, with a qualitative approach, supported by the analysis-synthesis method, through the content analysis technique, Among the findings, we find that there is no universal teacher training model that can ensure the same results in all realities and that Peru defines the professional reassessment of the teacher as an axis of the educational reform and advances in policies and strategies of teacher development, however, there is a weak professional training by competencies, despite the social demand that requires an educational model that ensures educational quality.
