The present study was carried out in the municipality of Oporapa, department of Huila. The purpose of the research was to characterize the socioeconomic and commercial dynamics of beekeeping in the municipality, for which surveys, field visits and interviews were used as information collection tools. The socioeconomic characterization of the households that practice beekeeping was carried out, finding that 85% of beekeepers are men, 90% are adults, 70% have a basic primary level of education, 95% are peasants, 95% have land and 95% carry out beekeeping in rural areas. In addition, the production and marketing system was characterized, finding that 80% of the producers carry out technical management, that on average beekeepers have 9 hives, beekeepers 8 and have been carrying out these practices for 7.5 years.
