Abstract

CHIANG GONZALEZ, Julio César; GONZALEZ MORALES, Víctor Manuel; REYES SANCHEZ, Yudysleidys  and  MINO VALDES, Juan Esteban. Influence of sugar cane varieties on the industrial efficiency of the factory "14 de julio" of Cienfuegos. cen. az. [online]. 2018, vol.45, n.1, pp. 41-49. ISSN 2223-4861.

The study of new sugar cane varieties allows to increase sucrose production with better prospects of industrial performance and resistance to pests and diseases. In this work, the sugar cane varieties (in the harvesting stage) are analyzed taking into account the components of agricultural and industrial performance in order to find out which of these varieties are more effective during the production process of the Sugar Factory "14 de Julio" located in the municipality of Rodas, thus enabling better economic and productive performance in sugar production. The characterization of the sugar cane varieties under study, as well as the management factors and industrial performance components (tons of sugar cane per hectare, percentage of pol in sugar cane and tons of pol per hectare) were taken into account. A study was conducted in the area of industry that allowed to identify the most effective varieties through the analysis of the 2012-213 and 2013-2014 harvests carried out using a database processed with programs such as Microsoft Excel and STATGRAPHICS 5.0. Models are proposed to plan the varieties to be milled that offer better results.
