SOROA BELL, María Regla; DIAZ RODRIGUEZ, Yuletsis; RIVAS TRASANCOS, Lester  and  MARTINEZ GONZALEZ, Jennifer de la C.. PROPOSALS FOR OIL BASE MUD CUTTINGS DISPOSAL IN THE CLINKER CEMENT PRODUCTION. cen. az. [online]. 2021, vol.48, n.4, pp. 63-73.  Epub Oct 01, 2021. ISSN 2223-4861.

Introduction:

Diesel oil-based drilling fluids (OBM), while expensive, are highly advantageous for drilling in geological complexities. However, the high hydrocarbon content turns its residues (drilling cuts) into a pollutant with great difficulty for its treatment and final disposal.

Objective:

To evaluate the drilling waste contaminated with diesel potential for its reuse in cement industry to clinker manufacture as a final disposal alternative.

Materials and Methods:

In the drilling cuts evaluation as raw material for cement clinker conformation, they were characterized in terms of content of total hydrocarbons, fat and oils, aromatic hydrocarbons, caloric power and flash point. Industrial-type tests were carried out with different mixing ratios between dry cutting and wet cutting with marl and Ferritic soil.

Results and Discussion:

It was show that with Ferritic soil and dry cutting mixture a lower aromatic fraction content is obtained, which does not affect the clinker quality.

Conclusions:

Obtained results showed that it is technically feasible, economically sustainable and environmentally friendly; given by cuts contaminated with diesel, generated during oil drilling reuse, and its energy use in cement clinker manufacture.
