Abstract

RODRIGUEZ-GAMEZ, Odalys; ABALOS-RODRIGUEZ, Arelis  and  CABRERA-GOMEZ, José Gregorio. Simultaneous production of ramnolipids and polyhydroxyalkanoates by Pseudomonas aeruginosa ORA9. Rev Cub Quim [online]. 2022, vol.34, n.3, pp. 445-461.  Epub Oct 24, 2022. ISSN 2224-5421.

In this work, the kinetics of the simultaneous production of rhamnolipids and polyhydroxyalkanoates from Pseudomonas aeruginosa ORA9 was studied. The kinetic parameters specific cell growth rate (µx), volumetric rate (rp) and specific rate of product formation (qP), and the yield of the product with respect to the biomass formed (YP/X) were determined. The results showed that polyhydroxyalkanoates production had a maximum accumulation of 22 % (1,14 g L-1) in the biomass, during the exponential phase of microbial growth. On the contrary, the highest yield of rhamnolipids is achieved at the end of the culture (YP/X = 1,024) with an increase in the kinetic variables evaluated after 18 hours, coinciding with the beginning of the stationary phase of microbial growth. It was found that, under the conditions tested, the culture time is an important factor that must be optimized to obtain adequate concentrations of both products.at the end of culture.
