Abstract

GARCIA-DIAZ, Marilin; GANDON-HERNANDEZ, José  and  MAQUEIRA-TAMAYO, Yudisel. Study for the Obtention of Biodiesel From Used Edible Oil. RTQ [online]. 2013, vol.33, n.2, pp. 162-169. ISSN 2224-6185.

Our country currently lacks a strategy to rationally utilize the volume of waste vegetable oil generated in the food industry and the tourism sector from the frying process, which is why this paper aims to study the production of biodiesel from used edible oils and methanol. The quantity of oil and reagents for the development of the transesterification reaction, by which biodiesel and glycerin is obtained, starting from fixed literature search. Then we proceeded to characterize the oil used as feedstock and subsequently the experimental phase in the laboratory was carried out. As a result of the experiments 88,385 % yield, this value is in the order of those reported in the literature. The technique used in the laboratory can be scaled to other levels.

Keywords : vegetable oils; transesterification; biodiesel; used edible oils.
