Abstract

LOPEZ GONZALEZ, Lisbet Mailin et al. Effect of the application of pre-treatment methods in the anaerobic digestion process of the lignocellulosic biomass. RTQ [online]. 2018, vol.38, n.2, pp. 324-334. ISSN 2224-6185.

Considerable efforts to improve biogas production by anaerobic digestion (AD) have been focused to the understanding of the associated microbial processes, to optimize the environmental conditions, the design of the reactors and the substrates. The manipulation of substrates is a possibility for those that present different types of limitations for their use in a process aimed at reaching the optimal conditions, and therefore, an increase in methane yield. The pre-treatment of lignocellulosic biomass to make it more digestible to microorganisms is among the available options. This article presents a review of the pre-treatment methods, work parameters, advantages and disadvantages and their effects on methane yield for some biomasses.

Keywords : Pre-treatments; anaerobic digestion; biogas production.
