Abstract

ALMORA-HERNANDEZ, Ernesto; CAMPA-HUERGO, Concepción  and  RODRIGUEZ-JIMENEZ, Efraín. Granulometry-Density correlation of Moringa oleifera dried leaf powders from different sieves. RTQ [online]. 2022, vol.42, n.1, pp. 131-141.  Epub Apr 30, 2022. ISSN 2224-6185.

In Cuba, the cultivation of Moringa oleifera Lam has been increasing in order to take advantage of its potential in the production of natural nutritional products from the leaves of this plant. The identity of the mass of the powder is derived from a series of properties given by the size of the particle, the shape and the porosity, as well as its chemical constitution and atomic structure. The objective of the work was to calculate the compacted density of the dried Moringa oleifera leaf powder from different sieves and to characterize them in terms of physical and technological parameters. The calculation of the compacted density was carried out by the measurement method in a graduated cylinder according to the Mexican Pharmacopeia. From the compacted density in all the samples, an average was obtained for the evaluated sieves that varied between 0.3674 and 0.4351 g / mL, observing a gradual increase in the value of the density in relation to the granulometry of the powder. It was observed that as the particle size of the powder decreased, the values of the compacted density increased proportionally. However, considering the Carr Index and the Hausner Index of the dust of all the sieves, these presented a qualification parameter for the fluidity variable between "good" and "acceptable”.
