Abstract

Objective:
The aim of this study was to define indicators for analysis of poverty derived from public policies implemented for the last ten years, in Costa Rica.
Methods:
Document review, observation, individual and group interviews.
Main results:
The analysis of public policies that contribute to the reduction of extreme poverty with a national scope of action, due to the implications they have for programs and projects implemented by the public authorities. This study offers a social, economic, and political vision on the issue addressed.
Conclusions:
Extreme poverty in Costa Rica is a structural problem of the national economy.
