Abstract

Aim:

To conduct a research study of the Industry 4.0 (the Fourth Industrial Revolution) phenomenon within the current Cuban context, and whether the related technological changes are worth surveiling.

Methods:

A bibliographic search and documentary review were performed to reveal the state of the art.

Main results:

The literature was review to characterize the emergence of Industry 4.0. The actions of the national strategy for economic and social development of Cuba that encourage the implementation of Industry 4.0 were embraced.

Conclusions:

Industry 4.0, or the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is associated with higher technology development. The Cuban development strategy cannot afford to ignore the technological transformations of this progress. Although the economic and social development plan entails decisions toward technological change, the business executives demand proper training to pursue their organizations’ roadmap.
