Abstract

CANEDO ANDALIA, Rubén et al. Cuban scientific production about health in international databases. Rev. cuba. inf. cienc. salud [online]. 2014, vol.25, n.4, pp. 442-451. ISSN 2307-2113.

With the purpose of determining the differences in the coverage of Cuban scientific production about health in databases Medline-PubMed, Embase and Scopus in the period 1996-2012, a detailed examination was conducted of these databases based on a number of dedicated search strategies. The total percentage difference between the coverage of scientific production by authors from Cuban institutions in Medline and PubMed tends to widen as years pass. A substantial difference was found between the coverage of this production in the databases studied. Scopus is the database with the largest coverage, followed by Embase and Medline-PubMed, in that order. Identification of total production in Medline, Embase and Scopus constitutes an important achievement in determining the international visibility of Cuban scientific production about health.
