Abstract

BATISTA DELGADO, Adiela Neyda; SUAREZ GONZALEZ, Emilio  and  OTERO BORGES, Lisandra. Archival description at the Medical Sciences University Archive in Havana. Rev. cuba. inf. cienc. salud [online]. 2015, vol.26, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 2307-2113.

The paper presents the process of archival description of the funds stored at the Medical Sciences University Archive in Havana. The following archival description standards were applied: ISAD (G), ISDIAH, ISAAR (CPF) and ISDF. Document analysis was performed to collect the main categories, messages and concepts serving as foundation for the study, approaching the categories from the perspective of entities recognized in the field of archival description, as well as direct consultation of description standards. A graphic description was obtained of the relationships between the objects described in the standards studied, which were integrated into a proposal for the process of description based on the links between the objects being described in each of them, with a view to their implementation in the university archive. It was confirmed that archival description is aimed at describing the document and the context of its creation, its use, maintenance and access. The description process proposed integrates the four standards: ISAD (G), ISDF, ISDIAH and ISAAR (CPF), whose description objects are related to the context of archival documents.

Keywords : archival; description; ISAAR (CPF); ISAD (G); ISDF; ISDIAH; standardization; description system.
