Abstract

CUBA VEGA, Lidia Ester. Policies for Racial Equity. Challenges in the Current Cuban Context. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2019, vol.7, n.2  Epub July 25, 2019. ISSN 2308-0132.

The article addresses a problem still latent in today's Cuban society: racism. It is based on the premise that in Cuba there is no institutional racism since the State advocates the equality of all citizens, but before the economic and social changes of the late nineties of the last century, a series of questions related to the subject, to which they are trying to respond, starting, fundamentally, from opinions collected from 148 Cuban informants, which evidenced situations of racism that still exist in Cuba. Taking into account the opinions offered and the analysis of the revised bibliography, suggested guidelines for the solution of this problem.

Keywords : racialism; racism; neo-racism; racial problems; racial equality; Cuba.
