Abstract
IBARRA, Quetzalli Atlatenco; DE LA GARZA CARRANZA, María Teresa and HERNANDEZ GONZALEZ, Salvador. Gender-Differentiated Retirement Savings in the Face of Parametric Changes. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2020, vol.8, n.2 Epub Aug 10, 2020. ISSN 2308-0132.
The financing and calculation of the provisional pensions of most social security systems in Mexico correspond to a defined-contribution and individual capitalization model. Therefore, through an individual retirement savings account, all risks are transferred to the worker. It is the worker who must assume the consequences of low returns, high commissions, increased life expectancy, etc. In the current federal administration there are no plans to reverse or modify the structure of the model. For this reason, a sensitivity analysis with gender differentiation is being carried out in this research. The effect that different variables directly related to retirement savings have on the replacement rate is reviewed. Likewise, a proposal is presented that aims to increase the replacement rate through parametric changes.
Keywords : sensitivity analysis; pensions; social security; replacement rate; old age.
