Abstract

Conflicts are a controversial theme that is part of the human culture. Although of little development in the Cuban society, it shows in all aspects of social life. The aim of this work was to propitiate a moment of meditation on the social and environmental conflicts, emphasizing on its manifestations and handling. Theoretical and analytical methods were used, as well as synthesis, systemic approach, empiric method and document revisions. It is presented a historical outline of the social conflict and related essential concepts are cleared up. It is described the dynamics of the conflict, coming from the analysis of its components, causes and the way that it evolves. Particularize on social and environmental conflict, illustrating on situations presented in the North-Central costal region of Cuba. Alternatives to handle socio and environmental conflicts are proposed.
